Three different processes are used for its manufacture: two thermal processes and a wet chemical process. A thermal process starts from metallic zinc, the other from zinc oxide residues or minerals. In both processes, zinc vapor is generated and burnt with zinc oxide. In the wet process, the zinc is leached from raw materials containing zinc and then precipitated as zinc / carbonate hydroxide.
